About

This is an early piece in a personal series motivated by a very prolonged journey through the US immigration system. This simple early piece explored conveying a sense of injustice by literally putting the most American icon of freedom and hope out of reach. A photographic slide of the statue was used to a create Polaroid emulsion lift which was then applied to plexiglass. Emulsion lifts are incredibly delicate skins that tear extremely easily, but are stable once adhered.
