This is an early piece in a personal series motivated by a very prolonged journey through the US immigration system. This piece attempts to convey a sense of tension, strength and vulnerability. Slides of the self portraits used to create Polaroid emulsion lifts which were applied to stretched elastane (Lycra). The emulsion lifts are incredibly delicate skins that tear extremely easily, but are stable once adhered.
